Webinar: Creating Effective Microlectures for Student
Engagement -- Presented by Dr. Africa Fine (Associate Professor, English and
Literature) and Faculty Development Coach Dr. Paul Massy.
A microlecture can be defined as a short,
instructor-produced video that's designed to provide an effective explanation
of a single key concept or specific skill set. Research shows that
microlectures have multiple pedagogical benefits, including creating a sense of
instructor presence in online courses. The format helps focus and maintain
student attention, provides students with content they can easily fit into
their busy lives, and allows them to reengage with the material when and if
needed. In this webinar, we'll discuss best practices and practical techniques
for planning and recording microlectures based on ACUE’s Effective Teaching
Practice Framework.
